My husband (Rafael) and I spent the early part of November cruising to Bimini, Bahamas and the Dominican Republic from Miami. This was my second sailing with Virgin Voyages and there are some BIG differences from other cruise lines we've sailed with. ​Virgin offers a unique cruising experience with fewer than 3,000 sailors, meaning you often interact and see each other again and again. (great for solo sailors) The ships are exclusively for adults🎉, with no children on board, making everything run just a little bit smoother.

Beverages like drip coffee ☕, tea, soda 🥤, and water are included, with filling stations throughout the ship. Supporting ecological responsibility 🌍, single-use plastic beverages, including bottled water, are not permitted. Instead, the ships feature a high-quality water filtration system.

Crew members are paid a living wage 💵, eliminating the need for mandatory tipping or daily service charges. There's no charge for basic Wi-Fi so you can stay in touch while onboard. Purchases are made by scanning a wearable band with no need to sign receipts or face tipping prompts every single time you buy a drink.🍹

​Virgin Voyages prioritizes a peaceful atmosphere. Overhead announcements are limited to embarkation day and emergencies so you can snooze the day away if that's the vacation you're needing. There’s also no Cruise Director. Instead, 12 Happenings Cast 💃members engage with sailors through specialized roles like food and beverage events 🍽️, trivia and games 🎲, workout classes 🏋️‍♀️, dance parties, along with performances by a drag queen 👑, magician 🪄, and a songstress 🎤.

Dining options include six distinct dinner restaurants (two of which also serve brunch 🥞), with menus mostly included in the fare. A few “Treat Yourself” items carry an upcharge, like tomahawk steak 🥩 or a seafood tower 🦞. There are no traditional main dining rooms or buffets; instead, a Galley Food Court offers freshly prepared items from various stations. My husband’s favorite was "Bento Baby", which serves AYCE sushi rolls 🍣 every day. You can also grab treats like ice cream, candy, and popcorn🍿 at the Social Club, which also features a free arcade 🕹️ and all the board games you can think of 🎯.

I’d describe Virgin Voyages as an environment where sailors and crew feel free to express themselves, regardless of background or identity 🌈. Overall, it’s a cruise line that blends comfort, sustainability, technology, and a welcoming atmosphere for all and Virgin Voyages is at the top of our favorite's list right now.
